Hagonoy is a first class coastal municipality situated at the southwestern portion of the province of Bulacan. It is bounded by the municipality of Calumpit on the north, municipality of Paombong on the east, municipality of Masantol, Pampanga on the west and Manila Bay on the south. The municipality is about an hour drive from Metro Manila and approximately 52 kilometers via North Luzon Expressway. It is an axe-shaped piece of land. From above the land looks like jigsaw puzzle that make up this portion of the premier province — a configuration that resulted from the strong and powerful currents of the fresh-water river of Angat flowing from the mountains of Bulacan and of the rich brackish river shared with Masantol at the lower plains of Pampanga. These rivers seem to have tentacles all over the place in the form of numerous rivulets and streams meandering about and coursing downwards through the length and breadth of the town until they reach and join the sea at Manila Bay.
