Business in Hagonoy, Bulacan![]() Business in Hagonoy, BulacanHagonoy is a first class municipality situated at the southwest corner of the province of Bulacan - one of the most favorite business destinations in the country today. The town is approximately 54 kilometers from Metro Manila or about an hour-and-a half drive via North Luzon Expressway or McArthur Highway. As of 2007 NSO census, the town has a total population of 126,329 with 25,900 households distributed in 26 urban barangays. The average population growth rate is pegged at 1.91%, just below the national rate of 2.04%. In 2010, the projected population of Hagonoy is 133,707. With its abundant water resources, fishing is obviously the major industry in the municipality. About three-fourths of the town's total land area is devoted to fishing. It is well known in the province as the major source of aquaculture products such as prawns, shrimps, crabs, milkfish and tilapia. The presence of basic infrastructure and utilities made Hagonoy a decent place to invest and put up businesses. Major roads are presently being upgraded to improve mobilization and transportation. Public utility vehicles include passenger jeepneys, buses and tricycle - the primary and most dominant mode of transportation. Communication services are also present ranging from telegraph and express mail to telephone systems, both landline and mobile. Major banking and financial institutions are also operating in the town such as BDO, Metro Bank, Planters Development Bank , Maybank , East Coast Rural Bank of Hagonoy, Inc., Cebuana Lhuiller, and Villarica Pawnshop. Hagonoy is generally a peaceful community with 113 reported crimes and crime solution efficiency rate of 97.26% in 2009. To expedite business application processes and encourage business registration, the municipal government has implemented One-Stop Shops and the Electronic Business Permit and Licensing System (E-BPLS) at the onset of 2009. In 2010, 5 new big investments opened in Hagonoy: Mang Inasal, Mateo-Maborrang Hospital, Sa Anghel Tayo Kumain, Petron Gas Station and Best Value Mart. |
